This is the time of year we naturally start thinking about what we’d like to change about ourselves for the better. There’s nothing like a fresh calendar with JANUARY across the top to make us aware of the opportunity it represents for self-improvement. A fresh start – when we resolve to eat a healthier diet, lose those extra pounds, train for a marathon, take better care of ourselves, or spend more time with our families. All of these are noble goals and all are attainable if we can keep up our level of motivation after the first couple of pages of the new calendar have gone by.
One of the most important ways to stay motivated and stick to our health and fitness aspirations is to keep them at the top of your mind. That’s where we hope Well-Being comes in. Our staff is constantly on the lookout for stories and topics that will inform you, inspire you, alert you, and in the process entertain you. Whether you are a seasoned athlete, a busy parent trying to squeeze in time to work out, someone looking for a way to plan healthier meals, get the kids out in the fresh air, or live “greener,” we try to offer something for everybody. And this issue is a perfect example.
Knowing that we are beginning a new year, gives us a sense that we can start over and be whatever and whoever we desire. It’s a great feeling, and one that doesn’t have to fade as the days go by. You can start fresh any time. There’s always next month, next week, tomorrow, or even later today. If you don’t stay on track to meet your goals for the new year after a few weeks, don’t give up. Re-evaluate. Look at what is keeping you from meeting those goals. Is it scheduling? Were your goals realistic? Do you need support from a friend or family member? Find your stumbling blocks and remove them…then reset.
When we first dreamed of starting a magazine about health and fitness, we worried about how we would be able keep finding topics that would interest our readers. Now, after nine issues, we realize there is no end to the information that needs to be shared. And as we always imagined, we have discovered wonderful resources across Mississippi that are helping us present the latest news and information on a wide range of health-related topics.
As we enter the new year, our resolution is to continue to look for new ways to keep your focus on health and fitness. If we help you reach your goals, in the process we will have achieved our goal as well.
