AUTISM SPECTRUM CENTER OPENS IN JACKSON

JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Community Education Center; in partnership with New Learning Resources School District: New Summit School and North New Summit School, and Together Enhancing Autism Awareness (known as TEAAM), announced recently the opening of an Autism Spectrum Centers of Mississippi (ASC-MS) facility in Jackson, MS. The Autism Spectrum Center provides a wide array of services to effectively address the needs of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

The creation of Autism Spectrum Centers is part of the vision of Mississippi Community Education Center to meet a community need in early childhood education. ASC-MS is a unique program that will serve to prepare children for entry into primary education. The center will represent a regional resource for families, professional development, and schools, and will provide a support mechanism in the diagnosis and treatment of children with autism.

The center utilizes what are recognized as best practices for dealing with Autism Spectrum Disorders, such as Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) and Verbal Behavior (VB) used in conjunction with Play Therapy (PT) and Natural Environment Training (NET).
