When and where does a fun-filled weekend escape include a challenging 100-mile bike ride that transverses three states and climbs three mountains?….the first weekend in May in Chattanooga, TN, when the Chattanooga Bicycle Club hosts the 27th Annual 3 State 3 Mountain Challenge! Combine your time on the course with a couple of extra days away from the grind and you have the makings of a memorable weekend. Whether you are ready for a romantic getaway or a family adventure, the ride will only consume one day, so it’s the perfect time and place for a mini-vacation not too far from home.

The Ride It’s no surprise that this classic ride has the word challenge in its name. The 100-mile course takes riders up and down three mountains and through the breathtaking scenery where Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia come together. If a full century ride sounds a little too optimistic for you, this signature race also offers three other options for riders at varying levels of experience and fitness: an 85-mile ride option; 62-mile option and a 31-mile route. To get the details on registration, the course maps, and complete information about the event and lodging visit chattbike.com.

The City Chattanooga, Tennessee is one of the South’s top travel destinations. In fact, the New York Times named Chattanooga, TN, one of the “Top 45 Places to go” in the World. Only four US destinations were named. The Scenic City was the only place outside of California, and it’s no wonder. Tucked between the mountains of Southeast Tennessee, along the beautiful Tennessee River, Chattanooga is one of America’s most appealing cities. But that’s just the beginning of what the Scenic City has to offer. There’s a world of outdoor adventure, amazing restaurants, live events, art and world-class attractions.

Chattanooga attractions include expansive views surrounding you everywhere you turn. Whether you want to take in a play or concert, visit an amazing museum, be a part of the nightlife, enjoy the outdoors or experience a piece of history, it’s all here. And what’s more, Chattanooga is one of the most affordable vacation destinations in the country – so you can do it all.

The Attractions If it’s a family weekend you are planning, you’ll find more than you can ask for in the way of family entertainment and attractions, from the Tennessee Aquarium to a downtown tour followed by a river ride on a Chattanooga Duck. There is the Chattanooga Zoo and the Creative Discovery Museum, and don’t forget the experiential adventure offered by the Tennessee Valley Railroad with train rides lasting from fifteen minutes to roundtrip rides of six to eight hours that journey into North Georgia. And that’s just the beginning…there is so much more.

For a romantic getaway just for two, you’ll find a wide variety of dining and lodging accommodations, to suit any taste or budget, including the famed Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel. If it’s more adventure you’re seeking, check out the new High Point Climbing and fitness facility or sit back and enjoy a trip on the Aquariums River Gorge Explorer, which cruises through the Tennessee River Gorge. Looking for a quieter more exclusive view of the world’s largest freshwater aquarium, a back stage pass, gives a unique opportunity to experience the Aquarium’s wonders away from the crowd. If art is your passion, you are in luck. Chattanooga boasts numerous outstanding museums and galleries. And the music…you’ll find everything from classical to bluegrass, blues to jazz. In fact, the Choo Choo Jazz Fest is actually the same weekend as the 3 State 3 Mountain Challenge.

To Learn More… There is so much to see and do in and around Chattanooga, we can’t do it justice in just a few pages. For a full rundown on all the exciting events and attractions visit www.chattanoogafun.com or call the Chattanooga Convention and Visitors Bureau at 800-322-3344.
