Let me introduce myself. You might recognize my name as Well-Being’s managing editor, but I am thrilled to announce that beginning with this issue, I will be taking on the role of publisher as well. When Kalil Abide, the magazine’s former publisher and founder, generously offered me the opportunity to purchase the magazine so he could spend more time building on and expanding his growing dental practice, it was a challenge I quickly accepted. Since before Well-Being was a reality, Kalil and I have worked together, along with our talented creative director and graphic designer, Alison Martin, to create a publication to bring Mississippians valuable information about getting fit, being healthy, eating a nutritional diet, and so much more. It has been a labor of love for all of us.

I believe that every experience of our lives instructs us, and helps us hone our skills for the next step. It has been a long road for me from the Mississippi Delta, to Nashville and back again before leading me to this moment and this place where I am now, a native Mississippian, living in Alabama editing and publishing a magazine for Mississippians by Mississippians. I dearly love everything about Well-Being. It is a privilege for us to be able to touch people and share information to help them lead healthier more productive lives.

We come to this January/February issue with a great sense of anticipation and excitement about the new era Well-Being is entering. I am especially proud of our advertising account executives, Lisa Carmichael and Lindsey Bell who are bringing an incredible amount of energy and dedication to the team. Their philosophy, like mine is that relationships are the key to any successful venture – building trust, mutual respect and giving over-the-top customer service. We believe when we do that, everything else will fall into place.

In the coming year we will be bringing our readers more of what is new, what is good and what is changing about the state of health and healthcare. We will focus on the people and places that are making a difference in the lives of Mississippians across the state.

As we begin our journey into 2015, let all of us at Well-Being wish you a year filled with happiness, good health and wellbeing. Thank you for making us a part of your lives.
