Fitness Plus, located at 1424 Old Square Road, officially opened its doors to the public April 1st. According to owner, Marty McCubbins, the new center is designed to meet the growing need for a quality health and fitness facility in the northeast Jackson area.

“The closing of the YMCA at DeVille created a pressing need for a fitness studio in Northeast Jackson,” notes McCubbins. “Our new studio, Fitness Plus, will focus on high quality instruction, affordable monthly rates, and most importantly, on a customer-driven menu of programs. Among the classes offered are: Yoga, Pilates (reformer and mat classes), Tai Chi, classical stretching, Zumba and other fitness programs.”

In an effort to meet the needs of its customers, Fitness Plus will honor requests for special classes at specific times for groups of six or more who are interested. It is a reflection of the ownership’s desire to let studio patrons help drive what programs are scheduled at which times.

“Part of what makes exercise a challenge is finding the time in our busy schedules to do it,” adds McCubbins. “By creating an environment where our customers have a say in the days and times of our classes, we hope to make getting regular exercise something that is doable for even the busiest of our members. Our goal is to offer the venue for them to incorporate exercise into their daily lives by providing programs designed to fit their hectic lifestyles, and in doing so increase their state of health and wellbeing – body, mind and spirit.”
