JACKSON, Miss. – On Saturday, May 12 Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center will hold FREE Sports Screenings at the Trade Mart in Downtown Jackson for the 19th year.

Since 1989, MSMOC has evaluated 132,000 student athletes. Students convene from the Delta, Grenada, Jackson, Morton, Magee, McComb, Natchez, Vicksburg and other areas. An average of 97% of students pass evaluation. Of the 3% of students who are deemed not eligible to play, 2% is related to blood pressure, 0.08% to cardiovascular health, 0.05% to dental health, and 0.07% other factors.

  • a flexibility exam
  • a general health exam
  • an orthopaedic exam
  • a dental exam
  • an eye test
  • height, weight, blood pressure, and pulse measurements
  • a cardiologic screening (available on-site should the need arise)

These services provided are free on-site with appointments by the student’s school.

A core value of Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center is the safe participation of students in school-related sport activities. The goal is prevention of injury in lieu of treating it during the season. In addition to the year-round game coverage of nearly 70 schools around the state by the MSM team of physicians, fellows, and athletic trainers, this annual community event offers an additional level of commitment.
