JACKSON, Miss. – Two years after first expanding its services with a mobile clinic, Open Arms Healthcare Center has introduced a new 38 ft. state-of-the-art full-service mobile clinic complete with two private patient rooms and the capacity to conduct healthcare provider visits online via Open Arms Telehealth.
According to the Health & Human Services Administration, all Mississippi service areas are medically underserved. The new Open Arms Mobile Clinic allows Open Arms to extend its services into these disadvantaged and vulnerable communities and neighborhoods across the state, which often have a higher rate of illness and death due to chronic and infectious diseases exacerbated by a lack of access to care.
Some of the services the Open Arms Healthcare Mobile Team provides are FREE health screenings through its Becoming a Healthier U (BHU) program. These include a complete glucose, cholesterol, HIV, STI, BMI, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and blood pressure screening at no cost in the comfort of a spacious, temperature controlled mobile clinic. Additional services included Family Planning, HIV Care, and PrEP. Mental Health is provided on the Open Arms Mobile unit by appointment.
